How to Register as a breeder

The American Pit Bull Terrier South African Association will only recommend breeders that follow good breeding ethics as well as provide with the proper pedigree certificate/s information of the sire/s and dam/s and once these had been verified.

Our aim is to provide to the public contact details from reputable breeders to ensure that the bloodline is unbroken.

The procedure to register as a breeder is simple, just fill in the form below and the American Pit Bull Terrier South African Association will contact you to verify the information provided and extend a Breeder Certificate and include you in our breeder’s page.

A representative of the American Pit Bull Terrier South African Association will visit breeders’ locations randomly to ensure that all information and breeding conditions are in order. These visits are part of the process of registering as a breeder, however, it will not slow the registration process and certificates might be provided even before such visits occur.

The following information will be required in order to proceed with the registration process:

  • A copy of each sir/dam pedigree certificate on site
  • Pictures showing the breeding ground and conditions
  • Conditions in which the puppies are delivered to its future owners e.g. age, vaccines, deworming, puppy packs, etc.
  • Ownership requirements if any
  • Registration certificate/s from any registry (optional)

A once off administration fee of R500 is required in order to proceed with the registration process. Please note that the administration fee does not guarantee your certification as a breeder and it is non-refundable. The expedition of a Breeder Certificate it is based purely on the verification of the information provided to us.

Once you are certified you will be able to display your certificate or any copy in any physical or digital media and you will have the full backup of the American Pit Bull Terrier South African Association which will include a regular listing on our website, for a featured section please email contact@apbtsaa.co.za for further details on how to proceed.

What to do After Submitting the Registration Application

Once the Registration Application is submitted it will take 7 to 10 business days to verify the pedigree of a dog registered in Southern Africa and 10 to 15 business days to verify the pedigree of dog registered overseas. If you do not receive any feedback after the stipulated waiting period you can lodge a query at status@apbtsaa.co.za

Please allow the full stipulated waiting time frame before lodging a query and kindly await for the response within 24hrs. Please refrain from lodging simultaneous queries about the same application at once since this will only delay the administrative process resulting in longer waiting periods.

When the application process is concluded you will receive an email notification and an SMS with the results of your application and the options to receive the pedigree certificate. If it happens that your application was unsuccessful you can lodge a request for a detailed report at admin@apbtsaa.co.za

By registering as a breeder you will help to fight the specific breed banning and to prevent the flourishing of backyard breeders who profits from impure/cross-breed “pitbulls” sales.

Help us to propagate the information of what a real American Pit Bull Terrier is all about by spreading the word and recommending this website.

Building a better future with strength and determination just like an APBT.
